Paying homage to the original Mercedes Roadster, a group of Mercedes design students have came up with this electric roadster concept for the 21st century. The most striking feature of the new design is the 19th century buggy-influenced wheels. In this case form has function as the wheels’ frontal profile act as a streamliner providing much less wind resistance than a conventional wheel and tire combo.
While the roadster’s top speed of only 15MPH leaves something to be desired, its range of over 200 miles per charge is mighty impressive. Another unique feature of the car is it control systems. The car is controlled by a single XY joystick and it definitely brings back memories of a certain movie starring Tom Cruise as a cop in the future. For more info on the car check out TreeHugger
